New Horizons for Humanitarian and Development Cooperation Between the Yemen International Agency for Development and Sela Development Foundation

As part of efforts to strengthen humanitarian and development partnerships and expand areas of joint cooperation, a delegation from the Yemen International Agency for Development visited Sela Development Foundation to explore new opportunities for collaboration in various humanitarian and development-related fields.

The delegation was headed by Dr. Abdulselam Al-Salami, Executive Director of the Yemen Office, Mr. Zakaria Shaalan, Executive Director of the Turkey Office, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Jouri, Director of Partnerships and Funding. They were received by Mr. Ali Ba Shomakh, Director of Sela Development Foundation.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed ways to strengthen their existing partnership and discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in humanitarian and development programs and projects, aiming to meet the needs of the most vulnerable groups in society and enhance the effectiveness of field interventions.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of implementing sustainable and impactful projects that create tangible improvements in beneficiaries’ lives and contribute to social stability and development efforts in targeted areas.

Both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination between humanitarian institutions, building strategic partnerships, and strengthening knowledge and experience exchange to improve the efficiency of humanitarian work and achieve more sustainable outcomes.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen cooperation and expand partnership areas in line with common humanitarian and development goals, ensuring better access to the most vulnerable communities.

Bachelor’s Scholarships for Yemeni Students at Al-Bukhary University in Malaysia for the 2026–2027 Academic Year

The Yemen International Agency for Development has announced the opening of applications for undergraduate scholarships at Al-Bukhary University in Malaysia for the 2026–2027 academic year, as part of its ongoing efforts to support the education sector and expand access to quality higher education opportunities for Yemeni youth.

These scholarships are the result of a partnership between the Yemen International Agency for Development, Al-Bukhary University, and Insan Association Malaysia. The initiative aims to enable Yemeni high school graduates to pursue higher education in an international academic environment that enhances their academic and personal skills and prepares them to contribute effectively to the development of their communities.

The scholarship offers a wide range of academic programs that meet labor market demands and development needs, including Business Administration and its specializations, Economics, Social Development, Islamic Finance, Political Science and International Relations, Education, Media and Communication, Computer Science, Data Science, and Information Technology with a specialization in Cybersecurity.

The program provides several educational and living benefits for accepted students, including full tuition fee coverage throughout the bachelor’s degree program, free on-campus accommodation and meals, and study in a fully English-language international learning environment.

The agency has outlined a number of eligibility requirements, including obtaining a high school certificate with a minimum score of 75%, being under the age of 20 at the time of application, demonstrating a good command of English, and not being enrolled in any other university.

The Yemen International Agency for Development invited interested applicants to complete their applications and submit the required documents within the specified timeline. The application deadline is 30 May 2026, while the names of nominated students for university registration will be announced on 30 June 2026.

The agency emphasized that this initiative reflects its vision of investing in education as one of the most important pillars of sustainable development. It seeks to provide Yemeni youth with access to distinguished higher education opportunities that enhance their academic and professional capabilities and open broader horizons for their future.

Mulhim School Inaugurated in Marib to Support the Education of Displaced Students

In a new humanitarian step reflecting strong cooperation in supporting the education sector, the “Mulhim School” was inaugurated in Marib Governorate. The school aims to provide a safe and suitable learning environment for displaced students, ensuring the continuity of education despite the ongoing challenges in the country.

The project was implemented by the Yemen International Agency for Development, with generous support from the Mulhim Volunteer Team. It aims to provide educational opportunities for the most vulnerable groups and enable students to continue their academic journey and build their future.

Tariq Al-Khair School Inaugurated in Al-Wadi District, Marib Governorate

As part of ongoing efforts to support the education sector and strengthen educational infrastructure in Marib Governorate, the Deputy Governor of Marib inaugurated today the “Tariq Al-Khair School” project in Al-Wadi District. The inauguration was attended by a delegation from the Tariq Al-Khair Foundation – Türkiye, with the project funded by the foundation and implemented by the Yemen International Agency for Development.

This new educational project is part of interventions aimed at improving the educational environment and providing better learning opportunities for students in targeted areas, contributing to reducing challenges facing the education process and enhancing its stability.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Marib praised the importance of this project, noting that it represents a valuable addition to the governorate’s educational infrastructure. He emphasized that such projects directly support education and provide a suitable learning environment for students, especially under the current conditions in the country.

The ceremony concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing support for educational projects and expanding interventions to meet community needs and sustainably develop the education sector.

YIAD Opens Bids for the Educational Support Project for Displaced Students

The Yemen International Agency for Development held an official meeting to open bids for the Educational Support Project for displaced students in Yemen, which aims to support secondary school students affected by displacement. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Agency, members of the evaluation committee, and delegates of the companies that submitted bids.

The tender includes the procurement of one thousand (1,000) educational tablet devices, equipped with accompanying educational software, in addition to the design and development of an integrated electronic system to manage the project. This initiative aligns with the requirements of digital education and contributes to improving the efficiency of monitoring and implementation processes.

This project comes as part of the Agency’s efforts to strengthen the educational process for displaced secondary school students by providing modern digital learning tools. Launch of the Professional Accreditation Center for Workers Heading to Saudi Arabia

The Professional Accreditation Center for workers seeking employment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was officially launched in Marib Governorate. The center is implemented by the YAD Academy for Business Development, affiliated with the Yemen International Agency for Development, as part of efforts to regulate the labor market and enhance professional competencies in accordance with the standards approved by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in cooperation with Alem Al-Injaz Training and Education Company.

The center aims to conduct professional examinations and assessments for skilled workers seeking employment in Saudi Arabia, ensuring that applicants possess the required professional competencies. YAD Academy is recognized as an authorized and accredited center to conduct professional tests and evaluations under this program.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several official and academic leaders, including Jamal Al-Jaafari, Director General of Training and Rehabilitation in Marib Governorate; Abdulhalim Al-Hijri, Director General of Technical Education at Sana’a Municipality; and Abbas Abdulmagni, Director General of Social Affairs at Sana’a Municipality.

The event was also attended by Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Sallami, Director of the Yemen International Agency for Development; Dr. Mohammed Ali Omar, Director of YAD Academy for Business Development; and Mohammed Ali Al-Kenani, representative of Alem Al-Injaz Training and Education Company.

Participants emphasized the importance of the program in improving the quality of migrant labor, enhancing access to safe and legal employment opportunities, protecting workers’ rights, and raising professional efficiency in alignment with the requirements of the Saudi labor market.
